Ahmed Hussein Mustafa Kamil Agiza & Mohammed Alzery
Legal Case
In 2005, in Agiza v. Sweden (Communication No. 233/2003), the UN Committee against Torture found that Sweden had violated the Convention against Torture. The following year, in Mohammed Alzery v. Sweden (Communication No. 1416/2005), the UN Human Rights Committee found Sweden to have violated the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
On 12 December 2007, REDRESS wrote to the Swedish Prime Minister to express our concerns at Sweden’s continuing failure to implement the decisions of the Committee against Torture and the Human Rights Committee. Then, in April 2008, REDRESS submitted comments to the Committee against Torture in consideration of Sweden’s Fifth Periodic Report.
