Al Saadoon v. The United Kindom
Legal Case
On 9 April 2009, REDRESS and The Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales, British Irish Rights Watch, The European Human Rights Advocacy Centre, Human Rights Watch, The International Commission of Jurists, The International Federation for Human Rights, Justice, and Liberty intervened in Al-Saadoon and Mufdhi v The United Kingdom (Application no. 61498/08) before the European Court of Human Rights.
The European Court gave judgment on 2 March 2010, ruling that there had been a breach of article 3. The judgment became final in October 2010, after the Court rejected a request for referral to the Grand Chamber.
