Legal Intern (Arabic Speaking):
REDRESS is currently seeking applications from postgraduate students with a strong background in human rights, to work on a research project covering Arab Spring countries. Due to the particular work of project, which will include desk-based research as well as interviews, the Legal Intern must have reasonably good written and spoken Arabic and English.
The placement will be based in our London office (87 Vauxhall Walk, SE11 5HJ).
Qualifications and experience:
- a background in human rights, public international law, gender and human rights;
- knowledge of the functioning of UN treaty bodies an asset
- good organisational skills
- strong research and drafting skills
- written and spoken Arabic and English
Time commitment:
Preferably at least 3 full days per week for at least 4 months, starting May/June 2012.

Press Officer Intern:
We are seeking a motivated press officer intern to join our friendly and hardworking team. The placement would be based in our London office (87 Vauxhall Walk, SE11 5HJ).
This position would suit someone who is a current student or recent graduate looking to expand their CV with an interest in developing a career in the Third Sector or human rights field. Tasks will include researching relevent media coverage, helping to prepare articles for our newsletters and website, promoting REDRESS on our social media pages, helping to organise press conferences and other events.
Qualifications and experience:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal: ability to interpret technical material in a manner appropriate for a wide range of audiences.
- Strong interest and knowledge of and preferably some experience working with UK press; awareness of international media.
- An excellent knowledge of social media.
- Strong organisational skills.
- A genuine interest in human rights and the principles of REDRESS’ work.
- Must be enthusiastic, reliable and self motivated
- Able to commit to REDRESS for at least 3 months

Time commitment:
The ideal candidate will be able to commit between 1 and 3 days per week (Monday to Friday), over a minimum period of 3 months. Lunch and travel expenses will be covered (up to £8 a day).

Volunteer Administrator:
We are currently looking for a reliable administration volunteer to join our friendly and hardworking team. The placement would be based in our London office (87 Vauxhall Walk, SE11 5HJ).
Tasks will include general administration (such as filing, photocopying, sorting through correspondence), maintaining our websites, updating our database of contacts, and helping with the logistical organisation of upcoming events. The role would also involve anything else that may come up in the everyday running of the charity.
Qualifications and experience:
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- Confident using the internet, email and Microsoft Word
- A genuine interest in human rights and the principles of REDRESS’ work
- Able to commit to REDRESS for at least 3 months

Qualifications and experience:
- A background in public international law, human rights, humanitarian or international criminal law.
- Basic criminal law / law of evidence desirable.
- Knowledge of the functioning of international criminal tribunals or International Criminal Court an asset.

- Ability to read and write in French to a professional level.
