Canada
REDRESS has been actively engaged in a number of torture cases impacting Canada. Recently , it intervened in Canada's Commission of Inquiry into the potential role of Canadian government officials in the detention and extraordiary rendition of Maher Arar. It has also commented on efforts in Canada to address the gaps in Canada's state immunity legislation which currently impedes torture survivor's access to Candadian courts to litigate their claims. REDRESS' Director is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Canadian Centre for International Justice.
